The office of Assemblyman Rudy Salas is reporting that $8 million have been secured in state funding to help in the battle against valley fever.
Assemblyman Salas reportedly approached the state's budget conference committee looking for money to help fund valley fever research and outreach. The committee approved $8 million in funding.
Of those funds, $3 million will be going to research at the Valley Fever Institute at Kern Medical. The funding still needs to be passed by both houses of California's legislature and be signed off by the governor.
