The Salvation Army hosted a luncheon and fundraiser to kickoff the beginning of red kettle season on November 2.
Held at the Petroleum Club in Bakersfield, doors opened at 11:15 a.m.
"We believe this luncheon is a wonderful way to engage the Bakersfield community and share how their donations support our local programs," Captain Kevin Pope, Salvation Army Bakersfield Citadel Corps officer, said.
The campaign will run from November 25 to December 24 at various locations around Bakersfield. Funds will support local Salvation Army programs like Christmas toys, Thanksgiving baskets and food for the community.
Last Christmas, more than $108,000 was raised by Bakersfield.
