A Falcon 9 rocket launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base was visible in Kern County and across Central California on Sunday evening.

The SAOCOM 1A satellite was launched from Space Launch Complex 4E at Vandenberg AFB at 7:21 p.m. The satellite deployed from the rocket shortly after launch, giving people in Kern County a spectacular view of the separation.

According to SpaceX, Falcon 9’s first stage will return to land at SpaceX’s Landing Zone 4 at the air base for SpaceX’s first attempt at a land landing on the West Coast.
