Coroner identifies two twin brothers as victims in double homicide

The Kern County coroner has identified 30-year-old Jules William Genis and 30-year-old John Andrew Genis III as the two victims who were fatally shot Saturday.

Bakersfield Police confirmed with 23ABC that they were twin brothers.

Both were taken to Kern Medical where officials said they later died. A postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm more details about their death.

The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a double homicide after a ShotSpotter activation early Saturday morning.

According to BPD, the call out was around 5:08 a.m. Saturday morning in the 500 block of Butte Street. They say when officers arrived they found two unidentified men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officials says the men were transported to a local hospital where both died from their wounds.

There is no suspect information at this time. The identify of the men we be released at a later time by the Kern County Coroner's Office.
