Bakersfield Christian High School hosted its 3rd annual Knowledge Bowl sponsored by Mission Bank on Saturday.
Officials said that about 27 Teams, from 20 different local elementary and junior high schools participated in this high-tech brain battle set up in a bracket-style competition with a seeding round and three additional rounds.
This all led up to both a consolation and championship round.
Officials said that the students competed in either the 5th/6th grade division or the 7th/8th grade division.
After a seeding round, teams began going head to head to continue into either the championship bracket or enter the consolation bracket.
Officials said while Valley Oaks Charter School for the 5th/6th division and Stockdale Christian School for the 7th/8th division won their consolation brackets, four teams advanced to the championship round held in the gym.
First the 5th/6th grade division competed with St. John’s Lutheran School beating Reagan Elementary School for the title.
Then St. John's junior high team defeated Rosedale Middle School, making this the second consecutive year to clinch the title in the 7th/8th grade division.
BCHS officials said that they look forward to continuing the tradition of the Knowledge Bowl and both encouraging and recognizing the hard work of students in our community.
Next year's knowledge bowl will take place on March 4, 2017 and registration for that will open in December.
The competition is open to all local schools with students in either grade division.
