The second annual Bakersfield Cancer Run/Walk was held Saturday at Yokuts park in northwest Bakersfield.
The run was hosted by the Comprehensive Blook and Cancer Center in the spirit of community wellness.
There was a 5K run for friends and loved ones of those battling cancer or in memory of those who lost someone to cancer. Several cancer survivors also took part in the race.
Organizer Michelle Avilla, the executive director of the CBCC foundation said it's important to celebrate life and remember those who've lost their lives.
"I think an event like this makes you feel that tingle...that sense that everyone's in it together," said Avilla.
There was also a children's jog-a-thon that included bubbles and colored powder that was thrown on them.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the run will go toward helping cancer patients right here in Kern County.
