The Bakersfield community is still on edge after learning several women have been assaulted after being rear ended.
Police are still looking for the suspect in those incidents tonight.
When it comes to self-defense training, David Woods said you learn invaluable techniques that could potentially save your life.
"They feel much more confident when they leave, they feel a lot safer," said Woods, trainer at Bakersfield Elite Martial Arts.
Always staying on top of the latest crime trends in Bakersfield, he makes sure women - and even men - know what to do when faced with trouble.
"If you look around and you see some weirdo creeping around, get back in and lock the doors."
Recently, several women report they have been assaulted after being rear-ended by a black Mercedes.
In a case like that, Woods recommended to always stay aware of your surroundings and show assertiveness.
If you're assaulted, he suggested hitting your assailant's four target points.
"Attack the eyes, the ears, the throat the groin," he said.
He said taking multiple self-defense training courses will help you be confident when fighting back.
"If you keep it fresh and make it a reflex, through repetition, then you'll be much more successful."
