A truck fire shut down lanes near the northbound I-5 and 99 split Thursday afternoon, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
The truck that caught fire was carrying frozen chicken.
The incident happened just one mile south of Laval Road around 4 p.m.
When KCFD personnel showed up to the incident they found a tractor-trailer fire. The tractor was fully engulfed in flames and was spreading toward the trailer, according to KCFD.
The fire then extended into the grass near the roadway and burned one acre, according to KCFD.
