UPDATE (9:01 a.m.): The California Highway Patrol said just after 7:30 a.m. they responded to southbound Highway 99 north of Merced Avenue for a semi-truck crash.

Officials said a semi-truck traveling on northbound Highway 99 veered to the left for unknown reasons and collided into the center divider. The truck over turned into the southbound lanes.

The overturned northbound semi-truck collided with another semi-truck that was heading southbound on Highway 99. It also turned over.

No one injured in the crash.

One of the semi-trucks was carrying butter, it spilled across the roadway. Officials are calling Kern County Environmental Health to the scene to evaluate.

All lanes of southbound Highway 99 are blocked, traffic is being diverted to the right hand shoulder, but the crash is slowing traffic in the area.

The roadway is expected to remain blocked until 11 a.m. or noon.
