TUPMAN, Calif. — An accident involving a semi-truck carrying natural gas led to the evacuation of some residents near Tupman.

According to the Kern County Fire Department, at around 11 p.m. Monday night the KCFD responded to the report of an accident outside of Tupman. When they arrived, they found a semi-truck that was hauling natural gas had rolled off the roadway, pinning the driver inside.

After removing the driver from the vehicle using the "jaws of life," crews blocked access to the scene and attempted to evacuate residents close to the accident scene.

A KCFD Hazmat Team responded and continued to monitor the situation until the truck could be uprighted and removed.

The driver was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
