The Kern County Fire Department is on scene of a semi truck fire that sparked a small grass fire along eastbound Highway 58.

Officials said around 6:30 a.m. Saturday a semi truck caught fire on the right hand shoulder of eastbound Highway 58 near Hart Flat Road.

Officials said a quarter acre of grass also caught on fire, but was quickly contained.

Officials closed down the number two lane as they continue to mop up the semi truck and the grass fire.

There's no estimate on when the lane will reopen.
