DELANO, Calif. — The Shafter Police Department is reporting they found two more instances of illegal fireworks use Thursday night and now they are warning that any violators will face a considerable fine or criminal prosecution.
Shafter's latest ordinance update allows for the issuance of citations for $1,000 and/or a criminal arrest. The ordinance also allows for the issuance of the citation by mail to the occupants of the residence in the event that the illegal fireworks are being used from a backyard.
Shafter police saying they will be patrolling for any illegal use. They ask Shafter residents to continue calling their dispatch center at 661-746-8500 to report illegal fireworks.
