Shelters pledge not to euthanize savable pets for "Just One Day" event

Posted

The "Just One Day" event is in swing at local animal shelters, bringing reduced adoption fees as shelters pledge not to euthanize any savable pets on Monday.

The event, which takes place nationwide each year on June 11, aims to save lives of shelter animals by offering adoptions for $11 for 11 hours. The event ends at 8 p.m. on Monday.

Kern County Animal Services is taking part in the event for the sixth consecutive year. They also announced last week that North Bakersfield Toyota and Bill Wright Toyota have decided to sponsor all animal adoptions at the Bakersfield, Mojave and Lake Isabella locations through Monday.

"What Bill Wright Toyota and North Bakersfield Toyota have offered to do is yet another example of local businesses that believe in a better life for Kern’s animals, and it is simply outstanding”, says Nick Cullen, Director of Kern County Animal Services.

The Bakersfield shelter will stay open until 8 p.m., but the Lake Isabella and Mojave locations will close at their normal hours. Sponsored adoptions will be available at all locations Monday.
