KERN COUNTY, Calif. — Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood sat down with 23ABC to discuss the status of the latest homelessness initiative, which includes jailing individuals for up to a year at Lerdo Detention Facility when they commit certain drug offenses, property crimes or theft.
Sheriff Youngblood said this effort is not about jailing the homeless, but rather enforcing already-existing laws and punishing repeat offenders.
