UPDATE: Coroner identifies man killed in East Bakersfield shooting Sunday

(UPDATE Sept. 22) The Kern County coroner’s office has identified Christopher Paul Holquin, 33, as the victim of a shooting at the intersection of Lake and Tate streets on Sunday.

Holquin was shot at 12:02 a.m. He was taken to Kern Medical, where he died at 12:37 a.m., according to the coroner.

Officials say a shooting overnight left one man dead in East Bakersfield.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office responded to the 3100 block of Lake Street shortly after midnight for reports of gunshots.

When they arrived, deputies located a 33-year-old man with at least two gunshot wounds. Hall Ambulance tried life-saving measures on the victim but he was pronounced deceased at Kern Medical.

Deputies were unable to locate a suspect. Detectives spoke to several witnesses who stated they heard multiple gunshots and saw the suspect vehicle flee the area.
