Two people were arrested early Sunday morning after Bakersfield Police responded to a report of a Shot Spotter activation in East Bakersfield.
The activation led officer to Ralston Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd. shortly after 12:30 a.m.
There, officers located two 9mm casings. Further investigation led officers o a nearby apartment where a probation search was conducted.
During the search, a stolen 9mm handgun was located in the apartment.
Police arrested Rene Hernandez for numerous firearm violations, possession of stolen property, and gang participation.
Another person, Lupe Hernandez, was also present inside the apartment and was arrested for a felony parole violation warrant.
Witnesses told police that rounds were possibly fired into the air. No shooting victims were found in the area.
