BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Sikhism is the world's fifth most popular religion, that believes in equality and service to others, according to United Sikhs.

Just hours ago United Sikhs announced that the United States 2020 Census will count Sikh Americans as a separate ethnic group. The current estimate for Sikh Americans is close to a million in the United States. According to Sikh leaders in Kern County, there are over 10,000 Sikh families right here in our community.

This announcement according to the United Sikhs is a milestone for America’s Sikh Community.
