A woman is dead after a crash near the intersection of Highway 178 and Masterson Street on Saturday.
BPD says it happened at around 4:00 a.m. Upon arrival officers found a vehicle that had hit the signal light overhang on the northeast corner of the intersection.
After an investigation, it appeared the adult male driver drifted from the westbound lanes of the 178 into the right turn lane of Masterson Street where the vehicle eventually left the roadway and hit the signal light.
The driver and his adult female passenger were pinned in the wreck and were freed by firefighters. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment where he is listed in stable condition. The passenger was determined to have life-threatening injuries and was also take to an area hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and at this point it is believed alcohol and/or drugs may be a factor. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact the police department at 327-7111.
