Today may be Black Friday and shoppers across the country are rushing to department stores, but Saturday's are for the small businesses.
Small businesses across Bakersfield are gearing up for Small Business Saturday. 23ABC News spoke with owners to see how they're preparing and why this is so important.
Ginger Boyd is the General Manager of In Your Wildest Dreams Antiquities store in Downtown Bakersfield. She says this business has been in the family for over 15 years, and it is an honor to be a business owner in the city she grew up.
Since she has been in charge of the store they have participated in Small Business Saturday.
"We've done it every year since I've been here, we have participated. Normally the D.B.A does something for Small Business Saturday where they kick off a brunch and have a passport where they do shopping all over and we donate a gift basket for that, we have a raffle item, it is a really fun day."
