Snow near Frazier Park means slick, icy roads

Longtime residents of the mountain communities say they welcome the snowy weather but many have noticed conditions on the road gradually getting worse.

The light snow makes the roads slippery and then as it melts it turns into slush.

Black ice is especially dangerous in the higher elevations, where no one is allowed through without tire chains. Areas like Pine Mountain Club have received five to seven inches of snow in the last couple days.

The snow means more tourism with people from Bakersfield and LA coming up to play in the powder. As the storms continue to come into the area, local businesses prepare for lots of tourism traffic during the weekend.
