Southern California Edison has increased the number of Kern County customers facing Public Safety Power Shutoffs to nearly 5,000.
On Wednesday, Southern California Edison's PSPS website indicated that about 1,500 customers could face shutoffs beginning Thanksgiving day.
Since then, that number of customers impacted has increased to 4,849. Residents in the Bear Valley Springs and Walker Basin areas would be impacted by the shutoffs.
Southern California Edison's PSPS website shows the outage would begin at 3 p.m. Thursday and run until 9 a.m. Friday.
