Highland Elementary School students will present more than 3,000 sock to the Hope Center as part of the student-led "Socktober Drive".

Student organizers and school officials will present the 3,528 pairs of socks to the Hope Center during a celebration today, November 15, 2017 from 2:15 p.m. to 2:35 p.m. inside of the Highland Elementary School cafeteria located at 2900 Barnett Street.  The "Socktober Drive" grew in three years from being a fifth grade class project to being a school-wide project. In order to expand the project this year, students wrote letters to parents, hosted lemonade stands, reached out to community organizations among other things in an effort to make the project succeed.

Students initially set a goal of 2,500 socks to be collected, which they surpassed by over 1,000 socks.
