UPDATE (8/1, 4:47 p.m.): The Sonic restaurant on 23rd Street has re-opened after scoring an 82% during a Kern County Public Health inspection on Thursday.
The restaurant was closed back on Monday, July 29, after scoring 61% during an inspection.

ORIGINAL STORY
The Sonic on 23rd Street has been shut down by the Department of Public Health after cockroaches were found in the restaurant.
According to Public Health, inspectors found cockroaches on walls and racks in a dry storage area.
Inspectors also found "an abundance of flies on a fly trap."
The inspector's report says the restaurant "did not take actions to maintain facility in a sanitary manner to prevent vermin infestation."
