A person suffered major injuries after they were hit by a vehicle on Monday morning in Central Bakersfield.

According to Bakersfield Police Department, at about 5:30 a.m. officers responded to a call about a person being struck by a car in the 200 block of Union Avenue. When they arrived, they found a man deceased in the road. The investigation showed that the man was crossing Union Avenue outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene during the investigation. Drug and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the accident.
