The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct a full closure next week on Southbound State Route 204 between State Route 99 and F Street in Bakersfield for bridge maintenance.

Southbound State Route 204 will be closed between SR 99 and F Street from Friday, July 22 at 8pm through Monday, July 25 at 5am, weather permitting. A posted detour will be available through this area.

Reckless or inattentive drivers traveling through work zone areas have caused the majority of work zone deaths.

Caltrans wants to remind drivers to stay attentive and undistracted while driving and to be cognizant of workers and vehicles in Construction and Maintenance Areas and slow down while driving through work zones.
