A fire ripped through an apartment complex in Southwest Bakersfield on Tuesday, damaging several units and causing up to a half-million dollars in damage.
The fire broke out at around 12:30 p.m. in the area of Parker Avenue and Stine Road. Fire crews arrived to find a six-unit complex with heavy smoke showing.
Investigators say the flames were able to get into a common attic, which may have helped spread the fire.
Four units sustained major damage and the other two units suffered minor damage. The damage as a result of the fire is estimated to be up to $500,000, according to Bakersfield Fire Department Battalion Chief Anthony Galagaza.
No one was injured in the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
