Next week Ward 5 residents will cast their votes for a new councilman in a special election.

The Ward 5 Seat was vacated in January following the death of Councilman Jeff Tkac.

Tkac was elected in November. He died by suicide in early January. Since then, residents in the district collected signatures to push for a special election.

City Council later voted to move forward with a special election, which will be held on June 6.
