Spencer's Restaurant on Rosedale Hwy has been closed by the health department after it failed an inspection due to a "vermin infestation."
During the inspection, the health department observed live and dead cockroaches underneath prep tables, at various places on the floor, coming out of a hole in the back of a prep table in the kitchen, on tiles, and in an electrical outlet.
Among the other violations, the staff did not demonstrate "correct decision-making skills," equipment not kept in a sanitary and operable condition, butter on the floor beneath a prep sink, uncovered food in the refrigerator, and dirt and debris on fan guards.
The restaurant will remain closed until the violations are corrected.
*A previous version of the story noted that public health inspectors reported evidence of rodent droppings and urine in the restaurant. Public Health has since amended its report stating there was no evidence of rodent activity.*
