BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A stillborn baby girl's death is being investigated as a homicide after she died of blunt force trauma.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Baby Villegas was stillborn on May 24, 2018 at 1:24 a.m. at Kern Medical Center.

A postmortem examination was conducted and the cause of death was blunt force trauma.

Baby Villegas' death has been ruled a homicide.

BPD has submitted paperwork to the Kern County District Attorney recommending charges

BPD says no one is in custody at this time.
