Stolen community library found in Shafter

Thanks to a tip from the Kern County Fire Department, a community library that was stolen in a Bakersfield neighborhood was found in Shafter.

Kern County Fire officials posted on their Facebook page, at around 10:00 PM Friday, they responded to a residential home in the city of Shafter for a medical emergency.

While crews treated and loaded the patient, Kern County Fire captain Tyler Townsend noticed a red cabinet in the living room.

He had seen the attached story on the evening news and thought that the red cabinet looked familiar.

Townsend notified the Shafter Police Department.

Officials with the Shafter PD told 23ABC News that they served a search warrant at the home on Saturday morning and the property was recovered. 

Shafter PD officials said the family has picked up the community library.
