Today’s storm knocked out power to thousands of people all throughout Bakersfield. One of the outages was caused after a power pole caught on fire.
Oildale resident, Ed Walton had just got back from the grocery store when he heard a loud noise.
Walton's lights went out and then they came back on but seconds later, he heard a buzzing sound and ran out the house.
Walton said he saw other neighbors gathering around an electric pole and looking up above.
"So i started coming to the front and it did it again, and then the lights stayed off and my neighbors said they saw sparks flying everywhere because a palm tree branch flew down and cross the wires of the electrical wires," said Walton.
Walton says there are usually not too many power outages in Oildale when it storms.
He applauded PG&E for responding so quickly and PG&E says they are no injuries.
As of now, all power in the Oildale area has been restored.
