Today thousands of students are heading back to campus at California State University, Bakersfield for the first day of school. 

Over the weekend the school welcomed not only incoming freshman, but also transfer students and all of their families. 

School is gearing up just days after CSUB President Dr. Horace Mitchell announced he will retire by the end of June, 2018.
