If you're feeling like you need to get away, your vacation may be closer than you think.
With summer closing in quickly, WalletHub ranked the top 184 cities when it comes to their "staycation" potential.
However, Bakersfield was ranked in the bottom half of that list, placing 134th out of those cities.
More than half of Americans reported having unused vacation days in 2018, according to WalletHub. But taking a break doesn't always mean leaving town. A staycation can not only save you on your vacation time, but also cash and the headaches of travel like highway traffic or getting through an airport.
WalletHub compared the cities based on 43 key indicators of a fun-filled -- yet wallet-friendly -- staycation. The cities were compared when it comes to Recreation, Food & Entertainment, and Rest & Relaxation.
Honolulu was ranked the best place for a staycation thanks to a top-ranking Recreation score. Chula Vista, Calif. placed last and Fresno was ranked 154th, 30 spots behind Bakersfield.
