The Giant Sequoia National Monument Coalition is hosting a rally today, August 22nd, at Yokuts Park. The rally is scheduled for 3 p.m.
The goal of the rally is to influence the Trump administration to not remove the national monument from Kern County.
The White House is currently considering removing or reducing the number of national monuments across the country.
Most of the monument is located in the congressional district represented by Kevin McCarthy, who will play a crucial role when the Trump administration completes its review of the Giant Sequoia and six other national monuments in California.
Secretary of the Interior, Ryan Zinke, is expected to make a decision by August 24th.
