Bakersfield Police says a man was driving a stolen big rig and led police officers on a chase early Wednesday morning.

The suspect has been arrested according to Bakersfield Police. He is identified as Carlos Montes, 20, of Bakersfield. He has been booked into Kern County Main Jail on multiple charges including Grand Theft Auto, according to authorities.

According to police, officers responded to Express Wholesale Tires on East Brundage Lane after reports of a man stealing tires and loading them into the semi-truck.

This is when Montes led police on a chase in that truck. The truck hit a cedar block wall at Washington and Potomac Ave. when Montes got out and ran away. After a short chase on foot, officers arrested him.

Police say the suspect hit a parked car during the chase. No officers were hurt.
