Suspect in 2015 Southwest Bakersfield shooting found guilty

A man involved in a Southwest Bakersfield murder back in March 2015 has been convicted of first degree murder, felon in possession of firearm, and felon in possession of ammunition, according to prosecutors.

Travell Clark, 28, was arrested after local police were called out to 6700 Orleans Lane on a Saturday night after reports of gunshots.

Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Michael Lashawn Whatly Jr., 25, died at the scene.

Clark faces a possible sentence of 80 years to life. No sentencing date has been set.
