Suspect in fatal Stanton shooting arrested in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, a suspect in a fatal shooting at Stanton motel was arrested in Bakersfield.

On August 26th, Orange County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Villa Motel in Stanton after someone reported a shooting. When deputies arrived they found a male victim. Despite attempts by first responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect reportedly fled the Orange County area following the shooting.

The Orange County Sheriff's Department worked with the Kern County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team to arrest the suspect in Bakersfield on Sunday.

"We are grateful for Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood and his personnel for their assistance with the apprehension of this murder suspect," said Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes in a press release. "Their tactical teams, working in concert with our investigative details on the scene, were able to make this arrest safely while minimizing risk to the public. Both our counties are safer tonight with this dangerous suspect in custody."

The name of the suspect was not released.
