After releasing the photo of a suspect sought in a Bakersfield check forgery case, the Bakersfield Police Department has ruled out the suspect.

The initial release came on Wednesday and called for the community's help in finding a suspect who supposedly deposited a forged check into the ATM of the Wells Fargo on 22nd Street on September 4.

The release included a picture of the suspect taken at the ATM, but BPD now says that the person has been found, interviewed and ruled out as the suspect in this case.

BPD says investigators were likely provided with the wrong photograph.
