A multi-agency search is underway for the suspect who led the California Highway Patrol on a chase then caused a crash involving a Kern County Sheriff's Office vehicle.
KCSO officials say a vehicle was driving the wrong way on Union Avenue just before 11 p.m. Tuesday. That triggered a chase involving the CHP. During that chase the suspect vehicle crashed into another car in the area of White Lane and Edith Lane. The car that was hit then crashed into a KCSO vehicle. No one was injured in the crash.
The pursuit continued and officials say the suspect bailed out of his car in the Oleander area off California Avenue. The suspect vehicle was found in the area of Maple Avenue. KCSO says the registered owner of the vehicle reported it stolen.
KCSO says the search for the suspect has been suspended.
