At approximately 10:48 a.m., the Delano Police Department received a call of a suspicious item near 800 Browning Road. Officers were dispatched to the area and reportedly located the suspicious item.

The Kern County Sheriff's Bomb Squad was subsequently dispatched and the 800 block of Browning Road was closed and Cesar Chavez High School was placed on lockdown.

According to police, the suspicious item was identified as a backpack and posed no threat. The school lockdown was then lifted and resumed normal business.
