BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — (UPDATE 3:12 p.m.): BPD says that they have determined that the object does not pose a threat and that it was likely a bundle of letters.

A suspicious object has been found in a mailbox near Harris Road and Buena Vista on the northwest corner, accord to Bakersfield Police.
Bakersfield Police were called to the area around 10:30 a.m. The caller said that they saw a person "acting strangely" place an object inside a neighborhood mailbox.
Several roads in the area are closed. North and southbound lanes are blocked for half a mile at Harris Road and Buena Vista.
