BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - (UPDATE: August 18, 2018 11:30 a.m.) CHP does not believe that anyone is in the vehicle. KCSO Search and Rescue is on scene to check the inside of the SUV.
CHP was initially responding to a call of an accident.
The front two windows of the SUV were rolled down. CHP believes the car was pushed into the river from above sometime last night.
CHP believes the car was recently stolen from the Bakersfield area. They will not be able to confirm if it is a stolen vehicle until they remove the SUV from the water.
CHP is responding to Hart Park after an SUV is found in the Kern River.
No word on how the vehicle got into the water.
