SWAT standoff puts schools in Taft on lockdown

The stand off ended around 6:30 p.m. Monday night after the SWAT team enter the residence and confirmed it was all clear.

Taft Police and Kern County Sheriffs are now searching for 28-year-old Anthony Finnigan. 

Finnigan is believed to have shot the individual that was taken to a Bakersfield hospital by ambulance.

That individuals name has not yet been released but Taft Police Lt. Peter Aranda said the individual is in critical condition.

Anthony Finnigan is said to be 5 feet 8 inches, 170 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

A barricaded suspect near 5th and San Emidio in Taft has put several schools on lockdown.

 

Lincoln annex, Roosevelt, Lincoln, Taft Primary, TUHS and all Taft City School District offices are on Lockdown because of a SWAT callout at 5th and San Emidio.

The call out happened at about 1 p.m. Monday after a shooting in the area.

The Taft City School District posted to its website that, "Due to an incident in the community NOT on any school site, We have called "Shelter in Place," as a precautionary measure. Students will stay on campus until we have an "all clear.""
