UPDATE (November 8, 2017 12:45 p.m.): The off-duty Taft officer involved in a car crash in Oildale on Tuesday night has been identified as Officer Moises (Mo) Martinez, a school resource officer for the Taft City School District.
Officer Martinez was taken to San Joaquin Hospital to be checked and medically cleared. According to the Taft Chief of Police, Officer Martinez will be cleared and ready to be on duty in a couple of days.

A Taft Police officer was involved in a collision with another car and a tree in Oildale Tuesday night, according to California Highway Patrol.
CHP received a call for a head-on collision involving a Taft Police officer near the intersection of Airport Drive and Park Meadows Avenue around 8:45 p.m.
When officers arrived on scene, they found that the Taft Police officer's car and another vehicle had crashed and the police officer's car then ran into a tree, CHP said.
The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries and the police officer was unharmed, according to CHP.
The identities of both the officer and the other driver have not been released.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
No other information was immediately available.
