The names "Bonnie & Clyde" can stir up images of criminals, crooks and a crime duo that has been made famous thanks to numerous pop culture references over time.
But, perhaps what the pair is best known for is being the subject of Merle Haggard's hit 50 years.
It was 50 years ago this week that Haggard's "The Legend of Bonnie and Clyde" went to No. 1, his third straight No. 1 single.
According to Rolling Stone, Haggard wrote the song with his then-wife Bonnie Owens. It chronicled the lives of Bonnie & Clyde's life, their criminal history and their fate.
