A teen was taken into custody after Bakersfield Police officers arrested him for illegal gun possession.
Authorities said officers on patrol tried to make contact with the suspicious person to the front of Toys R Us on Ming Avenue at about 4:15 p.m on Wednesday.
The suspect immediately ran and while he was running, he continually tried to grab something from his waistband. After a lengthy foot chase, officers were able to apprehend the suspect.
During a search of the suspect’s waistband, a loaded .357 revolver was found.
Officers arrested 19-year-old Justin Escandon of Bakersfield and booked him for illegal gun possession, gang participation and resisting arrest.
