A 17-year-old driving a "pocket-bike style miniature motorcycle" sustained injuries after he collided with another vehicle Thursday afternoon.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, the teenager was riding southbound on Monitor Street at around 3:15 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Berkshire Road. The teen was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and suffered "moderate to major" injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, but drugs, alcohol, and speed did not appear to be a factor in the accident. She complained of pain and was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
