Tehachapi Support LGBT organizers celebrated the first public Pride event in city history Saturday. 

Organizers say the event was a success and plan to make Tehachapi Pride an annual event. December and others believe Pride is an opportunity for bridging the gap in understanding the LGBTQ community. 

"If you can come here today and have a conversation with someone, this is what we should be able to do everyday and carry that into the future...that helps everybody get along, and improves everybody's life in the future," said community organizer Shani December. 

The Pride picnic was held at Philip Marx Central Park on East E Street in Tehachapi.
