Tehachapi City Council votes to delay decision on future of pot in the city

Posted

The Tehachapi City Council voted Monday night to take another year to decide on the future of pot in the city.

The Council was specifically talking about an ordinance prohibiting the commercial non-medical marijuana activity and whether people in Tehachapi should be able to grow pot outside of their homes.

The Council did not choose a side when they voted Monday night, rather giving the city a year to draft an ordinance for the regulation of recreational marijuana.

Tehachapi City Council is still deciding on how they will regulate marijuana after the state passed Proposition 64. Council members said it's a controversial topic and an issue that would change the city, so they want to get it right.

Tehachapi City Planning commissioners and the council are also looking at mobile deliveries of marijuana and how to regulate the process.
