The city of Tehachpai has issued a Red Flag Warning for the area that extends Thursday morning through Friday evening. A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire conditions exist as a result of strong winds, low relative humidity and warm temperatures.

According to the alert, "A very dry air-mass, coupled with gusty northeast to east winds, will be responsible for critical fire weather conditions across the Kern County Mountains through Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service in Hanford has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 10 AM Thursday to 5 PM PDT Friday."

The affected areas include the Kern County Mountains, including Lake Isabella, and the Tehachapi and Fort Tejon/Frazier Park areas.

The alert has been designated severe - which means there is a "significant threat to life or property."
